Many sites are reporting that The Weinstein Company is in serious trouble. And judging by their recent flops, this could be true. And if it is true, then expect some major franchises to go up on the chopping block soon. But have no fear, this could be a good thing. Say a company like Platinum Dunes buys the rights to Halloween, then we could probably expect the series to return to glory (hopefully).
And as for the Scream films, since their is already a second trilogy planned, could this be TWC's last attempt to bounce back? But if not, you better believe another company is more than willing to buy the rights. The most likely front runner I can see could possibly be Sony Screen Gems.
