No 'Batman' And 'Superman' Crossover Planned

Even after so many years, rumors continue to fly that Batman and Superman will one day meet on the bigscreen...that day just isn't anytime soon...

For several years there Warner Bros was intent on making a “Batman vs. Superman” movie. At one stage, they even had a director attached – Wolfgang Peterson. And you all remember the casting rumour frenzy that erupted when the project was announced, right? Everyone from Jude Law to Colin Farrell, John Travolta and George Clooney were said to be in the mix to play either Bruce or Clark. The Andrew Kevin Walker (“Se7en”) script wasn’t bad, but like the canceled-at-the-last-minute “Justice League” movie, Warner Bros just wasn’t convinced they were doing the right thing by their respective in-house heroes, and as a consequence canned the project.

Instead, of course, WB brought back Batman and Superman in solo pictures. I think you’ll all agree that they turned out rather well.

With Batman and Superman now firmly reestablished on the big screen, are Warner Bros now considering dusting off that ol’ “Batman vs. Superman” idea?

Seems not.

Speaking to STYD, producer Charles Roven (“Season of the Witch”) insists that Batman and Superman will remain in their own worlds – their won’t be any crossovers.

”That may be in somebody’s mind but right now the Batman lives in his world and the Superman lives in his world”, says Roven. “Those stories are those stories and we haven’t thought beyond each individual picture.”

Roven also responded to Chris Nolan’s comments that “Dark Knight Rises” will be the filmmaker’s final ‘Batman’ movie.

“I think that Chris Nolan has said that he wanted to make a trilogy and this is a trilogy. As far as we all know, this is it. This is the trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises is the third part of what Chris created with Batman Begins and we’re not looking past that.”

For the moment, Nolan is of course gearing up to shoot “Dark Knight Rises” while shepherding the ‘Superman’ comeback movie, “Man of Steel”.
