As well as the announcement of Halloween 3D, The Weinstein Company also announced Scary Movie 5 for an April 20, 2012 release. It's unclear on who exactly will helm the project, but as of Scary Movie 4, David Zucker was attached to a fifth film as well. But that has been some 5 years ago now. Personally, I'd love to see Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan Ivory Wayans (Scary Movie 1, 2) do another one. Hell, even if Marlon and Shawn don't want to star, at least let Keenan direct. Scary Movie 1 & 2 were hilarious. I'm not saying 3 and 4 were bad, but the bar was set pretty high.
Nevertheless, I welcome a fifth entry, and I'm pretty sure this new sequel will take a stab at remakes and reboots -- and hopefully slashers (again). So, yeah, Scary Movie 5 is scheduled for an April 20, 2012 release.
