- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

Stab 5 online on June 24, 2011!

June 7, 2011 – Less than a year after their first release (Stab 4: Fresh Blood) the team from StabMovies.com gears up for the release of their second film, STAB 5.

If you don’t already know, Stab is a series of movies produced within the Scream movies, recreating the “real life” events of Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 3. The release of Scream 4 allowed audiences to see where the Stab film franchise had gone over the past decade, spawning numerous sequels and storylines. After Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) threatened to sue the production company if they made any more movies about her life, the Stab series was forced to evolve into something new. The team from StabMovies.com, headed by writer/director Joshua Patrick Dudley, has tried to envision what the rest of the Stab sequels would have been like once there were no longer “real” murders to be based on. Joshua and his crew plan to make Stab 4, 5, 6 and 7! Two down, two to go!

“Starting with Stab 4, we tried to introduce new characters and places into the already infamous storyline established by the previous Scream and Stab films,” says Dudley. “Stab 4 was intended to show how a never-ending stream of sequels isn’t necessarily a good thing for a film franchise. We tried to play with the fact that the plots were recycled and new characters were based on previous characters in the series and make fun of the idea while doing so. We did create something pretty cool with Stab 4, but I think Stab 5 takes it to another level.”

Stab 5 presents a new idea in the Stab films, one touched upon inside the Scream movies. “With Stab 5, I asked myself, ‘where can this go? What is the next level of progression for the Stab films?’ and the answer seemed to be a new level of reality.” Dudley continues, “In Stab 5, the real life cast of Stab 4 is now being hunted by a real Ghost Face killer, an idea that was born from watching Scream 3 and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. The levels of reality can be very confusing, so it has been fun to play with. Stab 4 was set in the Scream universe, but Stab 5 is now set in ‘real life.’ So, Sarah Campbell is no longer Sarah Campbell, she is the actress that played her, Audrey Marquee and the Scream movies exists in our world, not the Stab movies. This gave us a chance to do some really cool stuff including bringing back most of the cast of Stab 4.”

Released on October 10, 2010, Stab 4 received mixed reviews. “We had a lot of people complaining about shaky camera shots, bad lighting, bad acting… etc. I think people forgot that we were just a bunch of kids, with a Flip camera, making a movie for fun. But the criticism really helped us a lot and we tried harder this time to plan and organize our shoots. We even discuss the criticism of our first film in the script for Stab 5, something we felt that the Scream movies would also do. I think Stab 5 will kick ass and exceed people’s expectations. I’m really excited for everyone to see it!"

Stab 5 will be viewable in HD, online, for free on June 24, 2011 at www.StabMovies.com and www.youtube.com/stabmovies.

Official Synopsis:
Stab 5 finds the cast of the amateur fan film Stab 4: Fresh Blood under attack, again playing on the reality-within-a-reality of the Stab films and taking it to the next level. After two cast members of Stab 4 are brutally murdered, the town of Manchester, New Hampshire is on edge as rumors of a Ghost Face wearing psycho quickly make their way around town. Joshua Dudley, Director of Stab 4, and his Producer, Rachel Arnold, are busily working on their production of Stab 5 when they receive the news. Deciding the film’s production is worth more to him than the safety of his cast, production rolls on. Stab 4 cast members Audrey Marquee, Jennifer Sue Mallard, Chris Dube, Shannon Nightingale, Amanda Constant, Alex Wenta, Shana Roystan, Reanna Warnock and more are targeted by the copy-cat killer and as more and more of the cast begins to die, confusion and speculation abound. Who would want to kill the cast of Stab 4? Is the killer someone taking their obsession with the Scream films one step too far? Is the killer following the same rules we all know and love? But most importantly, the number one question on everyone’s mind: who’s next?
