47-year-old unemployed man Takuyuki Machida and his 48-year-old wife Mal-suk were arrested by police in Chiba Prefecture on suspicion of selling pirated DVDs of the anime One Piece.
Authorities say that the couple admitted to the crime.
The two allegedly sold 38 copied DVDs to at least three men on the web for 10,000 yen (about US$120). The couple got the copies from a Korean website and sold them afterwards. The couple had been doing this from last July to this past March.
