Despite reports that Jessica Chastain was going to be in Iron Man 3, there is now official word from the actress herself that she will NOT be in the film.
On her facebook page she said:
"Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn't going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can't fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I'm so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there'll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I'm very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx"
Her extremely busy schedule forced her to drop out. She is going to star in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty. She's also starring in the two-part relationship drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers, which also stars opposite Joel Edgerton. Along with other projects, she just couldn't fit in Iron Man 3.
Isla Fisher, Diane Kruger and Gemma Arterton were up for the role that Jessica Chastain won but now that she is out, it's safe to say they will be back in the running.
