Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison star in 20th Century Fox's Cleopatra. Elizabeth Taylor becomes the first actress to earn $1 million for a film.

1981:
Raiders of the Lost Ark opens.

2003:
Brilliant as both villian (The Boys from Brazil, Moby Dick) and hero (To Kill a Mocking Bird), acting giant Gregory Peck dies in Los Angeles. The Oscar winner was 87.
