Canadian filmmaker Ivan Reitman, who produced Road Trip, counts National Lampoon's Animal House, the Ghostbusters movies and Twins among his box-office hits.
"There will be no Ghostbusters III. There's an audience for one, but I can't solve all the script problems.
"I'm also not certain I could make the deals with the stars and the studio."
Bill Murray recently told reporters he'd do a Ghostbusters III if he could die in the first 10 minutes and come back as a ghost.
"I read those stories ... but people should remember that Bill marches to his own drummer and he changes his tune an awful lot."
