No 'Halloween 3D' In 2011 -- Maybe 2012?

If you would have told me five years ago that in 2011 we would be waiting for production to start up on the the third installment a rebooted series of the Halloween franchise, I would called you insane. Fast forward five years. Here we are with Rob Zombie's two Myers-romps, and awaiting a third from another director.

Shortly after H2 was released, Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were quickly picked to pen and direct a third film in 3D. From what I've heard, Farmer submitted an excellent script that not not only pays great homage to the original series, but also follows the events of RZ's H2. But production was stopped and here is where we are...

Both Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were signed on shortly after Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN 2 (H2) released in 2009 to pen the script for the third installment when production came to a halt. Since that time rumors of the film have swirled from the film being officially "dead in the water" to production starting this this year. Sadly for those of you looking forward to a third film it is bad news.

According to a representative of the Weinstein Brothers, the duo have officially put HALLOWEEN plans of any kind on the shelf the year of 2011. With a focus on starting production for the new remake of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER, the tandem just can't seem to agree on the new direction of the series. Would they follow Rob Zombie's events or go with a more traditional HALLOWEEN type of sequel.

No announcement on a date has been given however we were told that it would be reevaluated for 2012. Is Michael Myers officially gone for good? It'll be interesting to hear what you have to say.
