Naturally, there's been much speculation on a possible fifth installment. But there must, presumably, come a point when she'd tell them to go away if they asked her to play Ripley again? "Well, that's why I died in the first place. That was my choice. I didn't want them to be able to keep making 'Alien' movies which featured my character, because I thought she'd become a joke. I didn't know how many times I could wake up and go 'Oh, there's this horrible thing on board', you know? I heard they were going to do 'Alien Vs Predator', and that didn't appeal to me much.
"I'm not very rigid as a person," she adds. "I never think about it. If they sent me a script in 20 years where Ripley has long white hair and is hobbling around with a cane saying [adopts little old dear voice] 'Let's go back to the planet where they came from', who knows what I might do? I always think each time you revisit territory like that, you need a better and better script, and you need a director with a fresh take on it. But I have no moral position about doing number five. I'll worry about it when it exists."
