There have been a few rumors lately about Richard Kelly (director) returning to do a third Donnie Darko film. Actually, maybe we should just call this part two instead -- I like to pretend S. Darko doesn't exist. Anyway, Kelly was quoted earlier in the week stating that he has a new "Darko" project in the works. Now, was he referring to a second sequel, or an original film under his Darko production banner? Who knows, really. It's too soon to tell, until we hear a more definitive word from the man himself.
I wouldn't hold your breath, but being the optimist that I am, the future is unclear.
