Jim Carrey Reluctantly Pulls Out Of 'Dumb & Dumber' Sequel (Updated)
No one was more excited about the planned Dumb and Dumber sequel than Jim Carrey -- but three months after director Peter Farrelly confirmed that both original stars would reprise their iconic roles, ETOnline has exclusively learned that Carrey has exited from the project. According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project. A sentiment seemingly reinforced by a statement exclusively obtained when ETOnline reached out to the actor's publicist for comment. In addition to confirming the story, Carrey exclusively tells ETOnline, "I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it's implied in the title." While the future of Dumb & Dumber To is now unknown, Carrey's fans can rest easy knowing the actor will be back on the big screen next year in New Line and Warner Brothers' The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.Source: ETOnline
Now this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Just a few years ago Will Ferrell was adamant that he did not want to return to the Anchorman franchise because the studio wasn't all gung-ho to do so. Now, obviously, things have changed and Anchorman: The Legend Continues is underway.
Now let's just hope the same thing happens with Dumb & Dumber To.
