A remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night is officially a go from the company behind the Terrifier movies. The film was previously remade in 2012 under the title Silent Night. Still unclear if this is a full-on remake or legacy sequel masquerading as a reboot.
Terrifier franchise backer Cineverse is lining up another Christmas treat for genre fans in the shape of a reimagining of cult horror Silent Night, Deadly Night, we can reveal.
Forty years after parents picketed outside of theaters following the release of the first Santa slasher movie in the franchise, Cineverse has acquired global rights to a new version and is launching during the American Film Market in Las Vegas.
The reboot of the franchise, written and directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85) and produced by Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, executive producers of the original 1984 Tri-Star film, alongside Jamie R. Thompson and Anthony Masi, goes into production “soon”. It is currently slated for a late 2025 theatrical release.
