For the first time since 1997's Scream 2, we got a Scream sequel that fully sequelizes the movie before it! This is 2023's Scream VI.
BREAKDOWN:
From Paramount on IMDb:
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera ("Sam Carpenter"), Jasmin Savoy Brown ("Mindy Meeks-Martin"), Mason Gooding ("Chad Meeks-Martin"), Jenna Ortega ("Tara Carpenter"), Hayden Panettiere ("Kirby Reed") and Courteney Cox ("Gale Weathers") return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
MY THOUGHTS:
VI is fun, no doubting that. It ups everything from Scream (2022). I just can't help but feel like a lot of the nostalgia bait within the movie was semi-wasted since Neve Campbell wasn't there to see it. Oh well. In hindsight, the movie closes the Carpenter sisters story on a solid note. It was also really great seeing Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed) return to the series!
