Now this is a little crazy. Doug Liman, who directed Amazon's 2024 remake of Road House, has stepped back from the sequel and is now working on his own sequel to the 1989 original titled Road House: Dylan.
The original did get a sequel in 2006 called Road House 2: Last Call.
Doug Liman is preparing to square off with the sequel to his own film. It's no secret that the director was deeply frustrated by the Prime Video streaming release of his 2024 Road House reboot starring Jake Gyllenhaal, hence his stepping back from the upcoming sequel. However, a new report reveals he's going one step further, now preparing his own sequel that will be a direct follow-up to the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic. Titled Road House: Dylan, it'll be based on a script penned by the original film's writer, R. Lance Hill, which Liman optioned, and, most importantly, it won't involve Amazon.
We'll see what happens with either sequel. This all stems from a feud between Liman and Amazon.
