Randomness on Halloween and Friday the 13th

Okay, now this is something that's been on my mind for awhile now -- some sequels are made for the wrong reason: the almighty dollar sign, which makes it a $equel.

Now in 1978, Halloween first graced our movies screens. And then, in 1980, we got a camp slasher called Friday the 13th. So, naturally, with the success of F13, we got Halloween II in 1981.

So what gives?

In 2007 we got the remake of Halloween, so of course, in 2008, we're getting the Friday the 13th remake. So naturally, a Halloween 2 has been announced. Which brings up the my concern: are producers making sequel after sequel because there's a story to tell, or because of the dollar signs that are attached?

I'm torn between the two. Any feedback, thoughts, concerns, or opinions? Voice your opinion by commenting below!
