S-B ranks the Friday the 13th sequels

Continuing our epic list of ranking horror history's best franchise sequels, we bring you the Friday the 13th series (minus the remake, but we did include< Freddy vs. Jason)...

1. Friday the 13th Part 3
I would've possibly ranked Part 2 at number one, but I feel this is the definitive Jason movie. Besides, not only is this the film where he gets the hockey mask, but it's also in 3-D!

2. Friday the 13th Part 2
Even though this is the first of the series to feature Mr. Voorhees as our main antagonist, I feel Part 3 was ever-so-slightly the better film, so this falls to a close second. Don't get me wrong, I love sack-head Jason.

3. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
This chapter is probably the biggest guilty pleasure for me. I absolutely adore Corey Feldman's "Tommy Jarvis" character, and scenery in this film is amazing. It also helps that this time around, Jason seems a little more brutal and raw (reminds me a lot of remake Jason, Derek Mears).

4. Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
What's not to like about this movie? I really have nothing negative to say, even the absence of Jason Voorhees doesn't bother me (he does appear in Tommy's hallucinations). Overall, this movie captures the essence of 80s slashers...and that's a good thing.

5. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
So Jason has officially became a zombie now. Yeah, maybe it was hinted at before with his look, physical endurance and all that jazz, but now it's official. Once you've been re-animated by lightning, you're a zombie (in my book...or Frankenstein). However, this was a fun movie with a solid soundtrack (thank you, Alice Cooper), and some of the kills are downright killer (pun intended!).

6. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Hmm, I wonder what would happen if Carrie White and Jason Voorhees threw down...oh wait, this movie IS what would happen. "Tina" (Lar Park Lincoln) has a telekinetic gift...but does this really work in an F13 film? If it wasn't for the cool-looking Jason (exposed spine!), this may have been ranked lower.

7. Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
So the creator of the original returns to bring us the last, huh? Yeah, right. Anyone with a brain stem knew this wasn't the last. However, I did enjoy this movie and the fact that they strayed away from the norm. It was an interesting movie, but it just lacked something (cough, hockey mask, cough!).

8. Freddy vs. Jason
So it turns out that Camp Crystal Lake is just outside Springwood, go figure, I guess Haddonfield must be right down the road, too. Anyway, so if you seen the ending to JGTH, then you seen this coming: the epic battle of evil versus evil. The only real memorable thing about this movie is that it was Robert Englund's last hoo-rah in the Freddy Krueger make-up.

9. Jason X
"In the year 2457, on a routine training mission, a group of..." Wait! 2457?! Huh? Okay, so takes place in the future AND in space...but that's okay. It was a very entertaining piece of cinema. I'd like to know what good old Uber Jason is up to nowadays.

10. Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
There really isn't much to say about this movie. You either love it or hate it. Me? I'm kind of in the middle. Even though it ranks dead last on my list, it definitely has great re-watchability (yeah, Google that shit, it's a word). There are so many plot holes, continuity errors, teleportation, etc. And when did Crystal Lake connect to the ocean? Oh well, it's a fun little boat ride (my god, aren't I good with puns, haha).

And that's it, our complete rundown of the F13 sequels, best to worst. Agree or disagree? Let me know by leaving a comment...or even rank them yourselves!
