Zach Braff Not Doing 'Fletch' Prequel/Reboot

Zach Braff (TV's Scrubs ) has been in talks to play the title role in the Fletch prequel/reboot for a few years now. That speculation ends now -- as Braff has officially taken his name out of the hat once made famous by Chevy Chase. Zach Braff has been on and off “Fletch Won”, the Weinstein’s long-proposed reboot of the Gregory MacDonald “Fletch” series, for years now. Though I don’t believe he’s ever been oficially attached to the project, the former “Scrubs” star has been the frontrunner to play the investigative reporter – the character Chevy Chase played in the films “Fletch” and “Fletch Lives” – since the days of Kevin Smith’s involvement (about five years back). Braff, not at all surprisingly, remained the favourite to play the role when Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”) took on the project in 2005. In a new interview with Cinema Blend, Braff confirms that he won’t be playing Irwin ‘Fletch’ Fletcher but more so, doesn’t think a “Fletch” movie without original series star Chevy Ch

Wes Craven Speculates On 'Scream 5 & 6'

Wes Craven spoke to MTV on media day for Scream 4 , and dropped a few hints as to the direction the franchise may be headed...including the surviving trio! "I imagine the core characters will continue," he said of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley. "I suspect they'll be with us until the end, because they just are the heart and soul of the movie and especially since we tend to kill off most of the other people," he said with a hearty laugh. "They'll be with us. There will be some continuation of the drama of Sidney Prescott's family and the ghosts that haunt it." Thanks to MTV for the story.

Distribution Rights Over 'The Crow' Remake Ensue

The rights on who can distribute The Crow remake are in limbo...maybe. Here's a letter sent to The Weinstein Company from Relativity regarding any rights issues... Dear Mr. Fields: As we have informed you, the project for which you are demanding representations from Relativity is not even in production. Relativity has no obligation whatsoever to produce or distribute The Crow, and certainly has no obligation to assure TWC of anything. Relativity will waste no further time engaging in a hypothetical dialogue with you about a potential dispute that may or may not arise in the future. In addition to being premature, your letter smacks of delusion as it ignores TWCs multiple breaches of the parties March 25, 2009 agreement (Termination Agreement). TWC openly and undisputedly failed to meet its financial obligations relating to Nine and failed to meet the contractual minimum marketing spend and contractual minimum screens for that film. As TWC is well aware, its wrong

New 'Leatherface 3D' May Have A Director

Despite leaving the series dormant for a number of years after two moderate successes at the box office, it looks like we'll be getting a third Texas Chainsaw Massacre -- appropriately titled Leatherface 3D . Bloody Disgusting got exclusive word that John Luessenhop is in talks to direct Lionsgate's Leatherface 3D, the sequel to the Platinum Dunes produced Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake that was released via New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures. Luessenhop directed the 2010 Takers starring Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Matt Dillon. Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco have turned in drafts the third Chainsaw flick that supposedly picks up immediately where Tobe Hooper's original left off before flashing forward 35 years. Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting for the scoop.

'Dark Knight Rises' Roles Revealed

Warner Bros. has officially announced that long-rumored cast members Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion  Cotillard are indeed in The Dark Knight Rises and revealed who they are playing. And it's not who you think. The studio said "Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon." Since we know a young Ra's Al Ghul will be in the movie (played by Josh Pence) and that rumors have swirled for months that Cotillard would play Talia Al Ghul , could "Miranda Tate" simply be her own form of "theatricality and deception" a la her dad's alias of Henri Ducard ? We shall see. Alas, Gordon-Levitt isn't playing Alberto Falcone, Riddler, Robin or any of the other existing DC characters tha
