Sharlto Copley Confirmed For Villain Role In Spike Lee's Remake Of 'Oldboy'

A few weeks ago, news broke that Sharlto Copley was offered the villain role in Spike Lee's remake of the Korean classic Oldboy.  Now, it is being confirmed that Mr. Copley has indeed signed on for the role. Some big names like Clive Owen, Christian Bale and Colin Firth were also offered the role but turned it down for various reasons.

The American remake will be about a man named Joe Douchett (Josh Brolin) who is mysteriously kidnapped and held captive for 15 years. Then one day he is released, given some money and a phone, and goes on the revenge hunt to find the person who kidnapped him. Copley will be playing Adrian Pryce, the billionaire who organizes the whole kidnapping. The script was written by Mark Protosevich.  The film will co-star Elizabeth Olsen.

I'll have to wait for a trailer and some images to be excited but now that Copley is officially the villain, I'm more excited than I was when I first put this story on here.

Are you excited for Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy?
