Sam Mendes Not Returning To Direct 'Bond 24'

Sam Mendes directed the latest James Bond film "Skyfall" to critical acclaim and fanfare (and it also became the highest grossing Bond film earning more than $1.1 billion) and it was only natural to believe he would be back to direct the next one but unfortunately, his schedule is just too hectic as he has other commitments to focus on.

He says in an interview with Empire:

"It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara's very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie... Directing "Skyfall" was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" and "King Lear", that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond... I feel very honored to have been part of the Bond family, and very much hope I have a chance to work with them again sometime in the future..."
The door is left open for him to direct a Bond film in the future so that leaves us with a question:  Who will direct the next Bond film?  We will let you know once we find out.
