It appears that a modern remake of Single White Female is on the horizon and Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are in talks to star. 2011's The Roommate was a decent, unofficial, albeit PG-13, remake, so let's see how this new version unfolds.
That’s the takeaway from 1992’s psychosexual thriller “Single White Female,” a classic of squirmy suspense that featured Bridget Fonda as a freshly single Manhattan-ite who has the misfortune of picking a clingy and awkward woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to be her roommate while she recovers from her breakup. But because Hollywood loves nothing more than putting a fresh coat of paint of the cult classics, Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are reviving the intra-apartment friction with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in negotiations to star in a remake. No word on who will direct the film — the original was directed by Barbet Schroeder of “Reversal of Fortune” fame.
