Every now and then a franchise will try something new like rebooting the series while still keeping the original entries canon. This is one of those. This is 2021's Spiral (aka Spiral: From the Book of Saw and Spiral: Saw).
BREAKDOWN:
From Lionsgate on IMDb:
Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer's morbid game.
MY THOUGHTS:
If I'm being honest with myself, I really liked Spiral. It's basically a new serial killer using Jigsaw's old method of operations. It's fun and delivers on that classic Saw twist at the end.
