Could Joe Manganiello Be The Next 'Batman'?

True Blood's Joe Manganiello could quite possibly be the next Bruce Wayne/Batman in a potential Batman reboot.  Manganiello auditioned for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man 12 years ago for Raimi's film, but was too muscular and was cast as Flash Thompson instead.  And, again, just about 2 years ago, the guy was up for the role as Clark Kent/Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel -- but due to scheduling conflicts, the the role went to Henry Cavill.

And now...Manganiello has his heart set on yet another superhero: Batman.

When asked about the possibility of playing The Caped Crusader by AICN's The Kidd, this was his response...
From your mouth to God’s ears, man. I mean of course, I grew up, as a kid, I read comic books, and I watched every single comic book movie that ever... You know, I was a big sci-fi fan, I was just that kid. I’m a fanboy at heart. So, yeah, that is on my radar, and I think in the back of my mind, even going getting classical theatre training to…

First Image Of Chloe Moretz As 'Carrie', Filming Begins

The first image of Carrie White, played by Chloe Moretz, in the Carrie re-do has been revealed.  Although the image is most likely a behind-the-scenes snag, this is definitely Moretz in Carrie attire.

Filming began this week in Toronto, Canada with a release date scheduled for March 15, 2013.
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telek…

'Curse Of Chucky' Begins Filming In September

The planned Child's Play remake is off.  A fifth sequel is on.  Curse of Chucky goes in front of the camera this September in Winnipeg, Canada.
No longer a rumour, Universal Home Entertainment have slapped the acidic size D’s back into the possessed doll Chucky, signing off on a plan to do a fifth sequel to 1988′s “Child’s Play”. “Curse of Chucky”, which will be written, directed and produced by Chucky conceiver and recurring franchise director Don Mancini, will begin shooting in Winnipeg, Canada in September. In this new film, which is being produced for DVD, Chucky arrives to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier. Unlike the la…

Review: The Legend Of Korra Book One

If you were a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender then hearing the news that there was a new Avatar series on Nick was big news. We get to see brand new characters in this world of mastering the elements and being able to ride on giant dogs (at least they look like dogs). I know I was pretty excited. I wasn't expecting something quite as epic or great as the first series but a series that could take the elements of the first and make it it's own. It did just that... for better or worse.

As the series opens, we see our heroine, Korra, who is the new Avatar. She is a hotheaded, stubborn and beautiful young lady who just wants to master the art of Airbending as soon as possible because we all know that learning how to airbend is so hard. I know how to airbend. It's not the greatest smelling thing in the world but I know how to do it. (Yes, I just did a fart joke.)

The series is set seventy years after the original series and set in Republic City. Master Tenzin, who is Katar…

'Apes' Writers Tapped To Pen 'Jurassic Park 4'

Finally some solid news regarding Jurassic Park 4 has been unveiled.  Universal has hired the Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to write a/the screenplay for the film.
EXCLUSIVE: While Universal Pictures has been trying all summer to generate new franchises, the studio is getting moving with the fourth installment of its biggest one, Jurassic Park. Universal is setting Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver to write the script for the fourth film, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Kennedy/Marshall’s Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Spielberg won’t direct this one. The first three films, which started with the Spielberg-directed 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park based on the bestselling novel by Michael Crichton, have grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide collectively. Universal is rereleasing the original film in 3D on July 19, 2013. The scribe are repped by CAA and attorney Don Steele. Source: Deadline

Charlie Sheen Cast As The President In 'Machete Kills'

Now this is interesting.  Charlie Sheen has been cast to play the President of the United States in director Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills, the sequel to his Machete (which originated as a faux Grindhouse trailer).  Rodriguez revealed that news himself via Twitter.
I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon... Source: Twitter

Jim Carrey Reluctantly Pulls Out Of 'Dumb & Dumber' Sequel (Updated)

This news is a bit sad.  It seems that Jim Carrey has exited the highly anticipated sequel to Dumb & Dumber -- which I'm led to believe it was going with the working title Dumb & Dumber To.
No one was more excited about the planned Dumb and Dumber sequel than Jim Carrey -- but three months after director Peter Farrelly confirmed that both original stars would reprise their iconic roles, ETOnline has exclusively learned that Carrey has exited from the project.  According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project.  A sentiment seemingly reinforced by a statement exclusively obtained when ETOnline reached out to the actor's publicist for comment. In addition to confirming the story, Carrey exclusively tells ETOnline, "I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it's implied in the title."  While the future of Dumb & Dumber To is n…

Tim Burton Finally Talks 'Beetlejuice 2'

After just about every former Beetlejuice cast member has expressed interest in returning to the series, the film's director, iconic Tim Burton, has finally spoken...

"Seth is writing something, so we'll see. I love the character but I want to just kind of look at it from a fresh perspective and see what he comes up with. That's like one of my favorite characters I've ever dealt with. (Michael) is one of the first people I worked with who was so good at improv. That movie, I was very lucky to work with a lot of actors, like him and Catherine O'Hara, who were very good at improv, so that kind of set me on a whole new course. I would love to revisit that character at some point." Source: Shock Till You Drop

Could Josh Hartnett Be The Next 'Daredevil'?

In a recent Twitter conversation, David Slade (who has been tapped to direct the Daredevil reboot) was mentioned in a tweet that hopes the directer gets back to working on Daredevil -- and just maybe Josh Hartnett would get the title role.  Slade's response?  "You and me both."

This new film will be based on Frank Miller's Born Again comic.

'Raging Bull II' Is Going Into Production -- Whether We Like It Or Not

I feel so bad for Martin Guigui.  Whether this film is decent or a complete harsh failure, he will be known for the REST of his life as "that guy that made that sequel to one of the greatest films ever to be put on screen."

Variety is reporting that Sunset Pictures and 982 Media'sRaging Bull II is now heading to production.  This prequel/sequel/whatever it is film is being directed by Martin Guigui from a script he co-wrote with Rustam Branaman

Robert DeNiro and Martin Scorsese, who were the two big names from the first film, will have absolutely nothing to do with this film.  That's probably not a great sign right there.

William Forsythe has the daunting task of taking over the role of Jake LaMotta in his older years while newcomer Mojean Aria will play him in his younger years.

Here is a description of the story:

“‘Raging Bull II’ is a continuation of the Jake La Motta story. When Robert De Niro won an Academy Award playing Jake in a film made from the book, …

TV Review: 'The Legend Of Korra' Episode 8

Due to me slacking off, this review is EXTREMELY LATE!  So, there will be this review and then the next episode's review will be up this weekend.  Hopefully.

Chief Saikhan, who is taking over for Chief Beifong, vows that he is going to protect Tarrlok's task force.  Korra and Tarrlok argue as Tarrlok continues to ask Korra to join him but she refuses.

Asami, Bolin, Mako and Korra patrol the city and they capture some Equalists, to the dismay of Tarrlok.  Tarrlok then passes a law that makes all non-benders have a curfew.

Tarrlok has Korra's friends arrested to stop her from freeing the civilians that were captured by police.
They later confront each other in Tarrlok's office.  Korra mentions that Tarrlok is doing exactly what Amon says are bad about the benders and Tarrlok then attacks her.  She finds out that he is a blood bender.  He captures her and takes her out of the city.

This episode sort of proved my previous point that Tarrlok was bad.  It's not completely…

Sony Event - E3 2012

The Sony Event at E3 this year was pretty amazing.

Starting it off, David Cage, who created Heavy Rain,  revealed a brand new game for the Playstation 3 -- Beyond - Two Souls.  It's going to be more action oriented than Heavy Rain but Cage promises that it will still have an engaging story, interesting characters and amazing graphics.  Academy Award Nominee Ellen Page stars in the game as lead character Jodie Holmes.  This was definitely a highlight for me.  I can't wait until this game comes out.  No official release date has been announced but it will come out sometime next year.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale was announced after Beyond and it has every character from Playstation included.  It definitely borrows the format from Super Smash Bros. but that game sold very well so it wouldn't be surprising if Battle Royale sold well too.

Playstation Plus will be getting a bunch of free games for download. Over 200 games coming to the Playstation NetworkPS Vita is also…

Microsoft Event - E3 2012

Microsoft's Event at E3 was very impressive.

To kick things off, Microsoft showed off their new game, Halo 4. With some new enemies, new environments and new weapons, this installment of the Halo franchise promises to be an even better game than all the rest.  Halo is due to be released in time for the holidays on November 6th, 2012.

Afterwards, Sam Fisher is now returning in Splinter Cell: Blacklist with some cool voice activated technology using the KinectSam Fisher is no longer being voiced by Michael Ironside, instead being played by Eric Johnson of Rookie Blue and the Flash Gordon remake.  The gameplay was pretty cool.

Along with announcements on FIFA 13 and Madden 13, who had Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Montana (49ers!!!)  showing off the voice activated gameplay using the Kinect, their were also announcements of Fable: The Journey and Gears of War: Judgment

Microsoft then announced Microsoft SmartGlass, an app that connects your mobile devices as a second screen for y…

'Captain America 2' To Be Directed By The Russo Brothers

It's pretty much a done-deal.  Anthony and Joe Russo will be directing the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.
Anthony and Joe Russo are close to finalizing a deal to direct the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger for Marvel Studios. The brothers continue Marvel’s strategy of finding unorthodox helmers for their movies. The Russos are known more for their work in comedy, having directed You, Me & Dupree and directing and executive producing the low-rated but strongly followed NBC comedy Community. The Russos beat out George Nolfi, the Bourne Ultimatum writer who made his directorial debut with The Adjustment Bureau. The bake-off lasted the better part of a month, with the contenders forced to study The Avengers as part of their exam. F. Gary Gray also was an early contender. Joe Johnston directed the first Captain America installment, starring Chris Evans as the titular hero. The movie, released in 2011 as part of Marvel's road to Avengers, grossed $368…

Kind Of Epic Show Interviews Animator Don Hertzfeldt

Don Hertzfeldt is an animator whose films are instantly recognizable and deceptively simple. Stick figures  often shot using a wide array of analog techniques that wouldn’t have been out of place when Walt Disney or Osama Tezuka were making their classics. Over the course of his career Don has brought to life people with silly hats, spoons that are too big, homicidal balloons, talking popcorn kernels that say phrases we can’t print and one character that proudly announces he is a bannana.

It is hard to do justice to his short films by describing them. They are best experienced on the big screen and if Don has his way with himself in the audience taking in the films with you. My Dad first took me to see one of Don’s films Billy’s Balloon when it was touring with Spike and Mike’s animation festival when I was only twelve years old. It's one of my most cherished childhood memories of my father and we make it an annual tradition now to see the Oscar shorts together at our neighborhood …

TV: Jerry O'Connell To Play Herman Munster In 'Mockingbird Lane'

Now this is an interesting casting choice: Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster in NBC's reboot of The Munsters, Mockingbird Lane.

And I actually like this choice.  O'Connell has proven himself to have the comic chops to pull it off.  Don't believe me?  Look at his work on Joe's Apartment, Tomcats and, hell, even The New Guy.  The guy's solid -- and I can't wait for this to premiere!
Jerry O’Connell is set to star opposite Eddie Izzard and Charity Wakefield in NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane. The pilot, written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their “plain” cousin (Wakefield) — that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies. O’Connell will play family patriarch, the handsome and gangly Herman Munster,  a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, a…

Ashley Tisdale Lands A Role In 'Scary Movie 5'

While news on the upcoming sequel Scary Movie 5 has been coming at a snail's pace, an interesting casting bit has been dropped today.

Tisdale will most likely be taking the leading reigns from Faris, playing a new character.

MTV Developing 'Scream' TV Series

I didn't see this coming, I must admit.  MTV is currently developing a Scream TV series.  And honestly, I don't know how I feel about this...
Ghostface is taking his reign of terror to the small screen. MTV is developing a weekly series based on the Scream film franchise, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively. Former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, who are shepherding the project under their DiGa production shingle, are on the hunt for a writer to pen the pilot. It’s unclear what role, if any, Scream auteurs Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven will have in the potential series. The four Scream flicks have brought in $500 million globally, although the most recent pic — last year’s Scream 4 — grossed a paltry $40 million domestically. Source: TVLine

Nintendo Shows Some New Stuff Before E3

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata showed off some new stuff in a 30 minute video including new controllers for the Wii U, including the Wii U Pro Controller and the Miiverse
The Wii U Gamepad is shown as an updated version from the one that Nintendo showed at last year's E3
The Wii U Pro Controller was showcased to reel in some hardcore gamers back to Nintendo.
Iwata also showed that Nintendo is ready to utilize the internet to help further their games with the announcement of the Nintendo Network. (I think they should change the name because of the Playstation Network... name it like the Nintendo Universe to tie in with Miiverse.)
Check out Iwata's Pre-E3 presentation of everything Nintendo below.
