Check out the new red band trailer for SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR that debuted at the SDCC!
Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller's visually stunning "Sin City" graphic novels back to the screen in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For." Weaving together two of Miller's classic stories with new tales, the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants.
Looks like we're going to be getting another TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE installment after all. This new film will be a prequel to TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D, and a sequel to 1974's TCM.
The real kicker? This is supposed to explore Leatherface's teenage years. They're basically trying to convince us that Leatherface was a teenager in the '74 original. I don't buy it, but hey, it's just a movie. As long as they can nail the tone and feel of a TCM movie, then I'm on board. As much as I liked TC3D, it lacked feeling -- of any kind, really.
While TC3D ended with a cliffhanger, setting up a sequel and new family dynamics, we’re being told that an unidentified writer is rumored to be in talks to pen Leatherface’s “teenage years“. This would mean that Dan Yeager would not be returning as the iconic chainsaw-weilding slasher, and that it would be a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 TCM…and a prequel to last year’s TC3D.

Okay, I'm now officially on board with the EVIL DEAD TV series that Sam and Ivan Raimi, along with star Bruce Campbell, are producing -- because it now appears that Ash himself, Bruce Campbell, will star in the show!
“@DeaditeBill: Only if @GroovyBruce is the STAR of this new tv series will I accept.
That's the plan. pic.twitter.com/m7EkBFpl1b

Holy hell! This is kind of, sort of, awesome news out of the San Diego Comic-Con -- Sam Raimi revealed that an EVIL DEAD TV series is in the works that he and brother Ivan, along with series star Bruce Campbell, are putting together!
Moments ago Sam Raimi revealed that he’s currently developing a television series based on his The Evil Dead franchise.
During the Hall H panel discussing The Last of Us adaptation, Raimi told the crowd that he and his brother Ivan, along with Bruce Campbell, are currently writing the “Evil Dead” series!

Today we look at a sequel from 1995, one of the few sequels that Jim Carrey has participated in....ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS! Breakdown:
Ace Ventura, emerging from self-imposed exile in a remote Himalayan hideaway, travels to Africa with explorer Fulton Greenwall to find a sacred bat which is told will avert a war between with Wachootoo and Wachati tribes. Of course, when Ace gets involved, all hell breaks loose... From Jonathan Broxton on IMDb My thoughts:
I like WHEN NATURE CALLS for what it is, but it certainly feels a little more off-the-wall than PET DETECTIVE. But you can't deny that the "rhino birth" scene isn't hilarious. Trailer:
I can't that I blame Dakota Johnson on this one. Johnson, of course, is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. But if she had her way, her parents would not be seeing the movie adaptation of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.
If you feel awkward watching the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer at your desk, imagine how it must feel to be the parents of the stars. While presenting the trailer for the Beyoncé-approved adaptation of E.L. James’ wildly popular erotic novel on the TODAY show Thursday, Dakota Johnson told co-host Savannah Guthrie that she doesn’t want her mom and dad to check out her acting talents.
“Not at all,” said Johnson, who is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. “I mean, if it were them doing the movie, I wouldn’t want to see that.”
Johnson plays Anastasia Steele, an innocent college girl who starts a relationship with kinky billionaire Christian Grey, but the actress says shooting the steamy movie was anything but intimate.
I guess this is good and bad news all wrapped in one. Kevin Williamson recently spoke about his new TV drama STALKER, and in the midst of it all revealed more on his proposed SCREAM 5 and SCREAM 6.
“It’s weird, when I pitched Scream 4, I pitched Scream 4, 5 and 6,” Williamson explained to a few journalists, including Cinefilles, following a panel for his new TV show Stalker at the 2014 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Thursday. “I pitched a whole new trilogy. I guess Scream 4 never took off in a way they hoped, and so…”
While Williamson went on to confirm what any Scream fan already knows–he’s “not involved” in the series development anymore, as Wes Craven and his team are “done with [him]“–he also noted that these original pitches could very well turn into something bigger in the future, if all goes well. “It’s all here [pointing to his head] and my computer … if they wanna buy it from me!” he said with a smirk.
It’s very possible the Craven crew might want to do…
Today's sequel is the fourth entry in the VACATION saga. Arguably the weakest in the franchise, but not without its own charm and moments, this is 1997's VEGAS VACATION! Breakdown:
When Clark Griswold puts his mind to something, we soon realize he hasn't got one. Still, nothing stops him when the vacation bug hits. This time, he's chosen Las Vegas, the new family entertainment capital of America! Chevy Chase returns as bubbly, bumbling Clark in Vegas Vacation, a jokers-are-wild laugh fest including two other stars from past Vacations. Beverly D'Angelo is back as wife Ellen, doting on the guy she calls "Sparky," and Randy Quaid again delights as grubby goof ball Cousin Eddie. Ethan Embry (That Thing You Do!) and screen-debuting Marisol Nichols are Griswold teens who love the round-the-clock nightlife - as long as they don't share it with Mom and Dad! From Seigfried and Roy's extravaganza to a Hoover Dam tour, from cruising to losing (Wallace Shawn…
It appears that a LAST VEGAS 2 is on the way. CBS Films has just hired David Diamond and David Weissman to write the screenplay for the sequel.
CBS Films is moving aggressively on a sequel to its biggest grossing film Last Vegas. David Diamond & David Weissman have been hired to write the second installment of the AARP comedy. The intent is to bring back director Jon Turteltaub, and the film’s stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline. The sequel will focus on the quartet’s return to their old stomping grounds in Brooklyn. They discover that borough has changed more than a little since the four grew up there.
The wheels of production are rolling on INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3 and we've recently learned that this third entry will, in fact, be a prequel. The investigators in this installment are returning, but the story will follow a different family, essentially setting up the first movie. Let's just hope we eventually getting a sequel to CHAPTER 2, since it was intentionally left open for one.
Focus Features, Entertainment One (eOne), Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA), and Blumhouse Productions announced today that Insidious: Chapter 3 has begun production in Los Angeles. Leigh Whannell, co-creator of the terrifying horror franchise, is writing and directing the new movie.
To commemorate the start of production of the series’ newest chapter, Focus is launching a sweepstakes on the official Insidious Facebook (www.facebook.com/InsidiousMovie) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/InsidiousMovie) pages. Insidious buffs and fans will have the chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles to…
Today we look at a sequel that's really more of a spinoff, the first in the AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS franchise. This is 2005's AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS BAND CAMP! Breakdown:
This loosely related sequel focuses on Steve Stifler's younger brother Matt Stifler, who is sent to band camp for the summer to avoid expulsion from high school by the counselor, Sherminator. Matt attempts to wire the camp with hidden cameras to turn it into the set for his own "Girls Gone Wild"-type video, but when he falls for his school band's director Elyse, his efforts to stifle his Stiffmeister ways will surely meet with hilarious results.
From Anonymous on IMDb My thoughts:
I'm not going to beat around the bush here, I really enjoyed BAND CAMP. Tad Hilgenbrink, who plays Matt Stifler, actually did a great job at capturing the essence of "The Stifmeister" (although originally Matt Stifler, Eli Marienthal, is missed in the role). Recommended if you're a PIE fan, just rem…
The Spider-Man villain movie, THE SINISTER SIX, will be hitting theaters November 11, 2016. As part of this move, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 is being pushed back to 2018 (originally slated for release on June 10, 2016).
Being pushed back two years seems sort of crazy, but oh well. Hopefully this is part of the story arc that SINISTER SIX will weave into the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN universe.
Side note: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 was originally scheduled for a May 4, 2018 release, but it appears to no longer have a slated release.
Sony released a new photo from GOOSEBUMPS -- an image of the "living dummy" himself, Slappy! The first thing we noticed is that they did give the doll a redesign, which I don't really care for. Slappy looks to much like the Billy from DEAD SILENCE. But who know, maybe it'll work -- they seem to be going for a look more similar to the cover art for NIGHT OF THE LIVING DUMMY.
Today we look at a 2007 sequel that tried to cater to the fans, but ultimately failed. Yeah, yeah, this is SPIDER-MAN 3... Breakdown:
Peter Parker has finally managed to piece together the once-broken parts of his life, maintaining a balance between his relationship with Mary-Jane and his responsibility as Spider-Man. But more challenges arise for our young hero. Peter's old friend Harry Obsourne has set out for revenge against Peter; taking up the mantle of his late father's persona as The New Goblin, and Peter must also capture Uncle Ben's real killer, Flint Marko, who has been transformed into his toughest foe yet, the Sandman. All hope seems lost when suddenly Peter's suit turns jet-black and greatly amplifies his powers. But it also begins to greatly amplify the much darker qualities of Peter's personality that he begins to lose himself to. Peter has to reach deep inside himself to free the compassionate hero he used to be if he is to ever conquer the darknes…
Marvel's cinematic universe has become delightfully expansive over the past several years. With so many films and intertwining story lines, it's difficult to think of any one project as a sequel to a single other one. Yet when it comes to ranking and comparing Marvel's films, it's interesting to look at them in the context of how each built on the film before it. In this regard, I'd argue that IRON MAN 2 may be the most underrated film in Marvel's arsenal. So, just for fun—and as a quasi-review of the forgotten Iron Man film—here are my five reasons why this might just be Marvel's greatest sequel.
1. The Return Of Tony Stark
With Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark, Marvel struck gold and introduced us to a character we simply couldn't get enough of. Have you ever wondered why Pirates Of the Caribbean films keep making money? Or why TV viewers came back for season after repetitive season of House? It's (likely) almost entirely because of the charac…
THE CROW remake director F. Javier Gutierrez has also been tapped to direct THE RING 3. Currently, there is no word on whether or not this third installment will follow the events of THE RING and THE RING TWO, but, I sure hope it does...we need more Samara Morgan -- and Naomi Watts!
F. Javier Gutierrez, who is attached to direct “The Crow” reboot starring Luke Evans, has closed a deal to direct the third movie in “The Ring” franchise for Paramount and producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, TheWrap has learned.
Mark Romanek is about to officially sign on to direct OVERLOOK HOTEL, a prequel to THE SHINING, which starred Jack Nicholson in arguably his most iconic role to date.
Mark Romanek is in negotiations to helm Warner Bros.’ “Overlook Hotel,” a prequel to the Stanley Kubrick classic “The Shining.”
Former “Walking Dead” showrunner Glenn Mazzara recently turned in his draft for the original story, with Mythology’s James Vanderbilt, Brad Fischer and Laeta Kalogridis producing.
Uh-oh, things might be getting legal on the side of THE PURGE. No, The Purge isn't going to become a real thing, but the studio is being sued for copyright infringement.
Screenwriter Douglas Jordan-Benel submitted a screenplay called SETTLER'S DAY to United Talent Agency -- and a few months later, THE PURGE was in production with a very similar plot.
Douglas Jordan-Benel alleges he submitted his "Settler's Day" screenplay to United Talent Agency, which represents the credited writer of "The Purge."

Today we look at a sequel that more than stands the test of time. A sequel that truly lives up to the original. This is 1989's BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II! Breakdown:
Marty McFly has only just gotten back from the past, when he is once again picked up by Dr. Emmett Brown and sent through time to the future. Marty's job in the future is to pose as his own son to prevent him from being thrown in prison. Unfortunately, things get worse when the future changes the present.
From FilmFanUk on IMDb My thoughts:
BTTF2 is just a great movie! It takes what the original movie sets up and runs with it. Since the first movie goes back, this sequel goes forward. And who doesn't want a hoverboard?! Trailer:
So over the last few weeks/months, photos have been steadily rolling out for SLC PUNK! 2, from the movie's official Facebook page. And just like the ideals of the movie(s) itself, production is staying very low-key and so not mainstream. As it should be.
Today we look at yet another sequel that was in development for quite some time. And although it doesn't quite have the same charm as the original, it's still very funny in its own right. This is 2005's DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO! Breakdown:
Deuce Bigalow ('Rob Schneider') goes to Amsterdam after a little accident including two irritating kids and a bunch of aggressive dolphins. There he meets up with his old friend TJ Hicks ('Eddie Griffin'). But a mysterious killer starts killing some of Amsterdams finest gigolos and TJ is mistaken for the extremely gay murderer. Deuce must enter the gigolo industry again to find the real murderer and clear TJs name.
From Morty_man91 on IMDb My thoughts:
I hold a very special place in my heart for the original DEUCE BIGALOW, but admittedly, I've only seen the sequel one time. I do remember some of it being very funny, and some of it borrowing heavily from the original. A worthy sequel, but not quite on the same …
The trailer for TV series of 12 MONKEYS has been released via SyFy.
Based on the 1995 film directed by Terry Gilliam, "12 Monkeys" follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who is on a mission to eradicate the source of a deadly plague.
The lawsuit filed on the producer's of DUMB AND DUMBER TO has been settled. Therefore, their names will appear in the credits, after all.
The yearlong pitched Dumb And Dumber To legal battle between Red Granite Pictures and producers Steve Stabler and Brad Krevoy is over. The producers today requested their violation of racketeering laws allegations against the financiers be dismissed. This filing (read it here) means, I’ve learned, that the two sides have reached a confidential settlement to the lawsuit that Red Granite launched last July 15 to get the franchise’s original producers off the sequel. RGP said at the time that Stabler and Krevoy had no right to be a part of the Universal distributed $35 million budget follow up to the 1994 hit. No right translated into no credits or fees for the producers. While details are undisclosed, settlements in cases like this mean it’s very likely you’ll see Stabler and Krevoy names in the Dumb And Dumber To credits now. This wasn’t exac…
Universal has called upon Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan to relaunch the studio's classic monsters. Not familiar with Universal's classic monsters? Here's a refresher: FRANKENSTEIN, DRACULA, THE WOLFMAN, THE MUMMY, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and so on.
The first on the relaunch slate is THE MUMMY.
They’ve begun the meetings to put together an interconnected slate of Monster films, and the first will be a reboot of The Mummy, which will be released April 22, 2016. Part of their duty will be to work closely with production, marketing, promotions and consumer product to support the revival. They will also reevaluate projects which have preexisting attachments, and bring it under one cohesive strategy.
Color me excited!
Keep in mind, Universal tried to reboot THE WOLFMAN franchise with Benicio Del Toro but it ultimately failed.
Roberto Orci's plate is getting pretty full nowadays. He's just signed on to produce POWER RANGERS for Lionsgate.
Roberto Orci has signed on to executive produce Lionsgate’s “Power Rangers” movie through his newly formed Sneaky Shark.
Lionsgate and Saban Brands announced the “Power Rangers” project in May. Orci will develop the story along with writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who will pen the script.
If you're needing your horror sequel fix then rest easy, SINISTER 2 begins filming next month in Chicago.
Bloody Disgusting reader ‘Mike A.’ just caught wind of an article in the Chicago Tribune that reports Sinister 2 will film entirely in the Chicago area for one month beginning in August, according to a spokesman for Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind the horror film.

After auditioning thousands of hopefuls, the role of Mowgli in Jon Favreau's THE JUNGLE BOOK has finally been nabbed. Please welcome newcomer Neel Sethi in his first acting role!
Disney has cast newcomer Neel Sethi as Mogwli in “The Jungle Book.”
Jon Favreau is directing the live action film from a script by Justin Marks.
Today we look at a sequel that no one really saw coming, but somehow was "good enough" for warrant two more future sequels. Of course, I'm talking about the 2007 TV sequel LAKE PLACID 2! Breakdown:
In the sequel to the feature film, man-eating crocodiles return to the lake as two males and one aggressive female crocodile, which is protecting her nest, wreak havoc on the locals. My thoughts:
It's just one of the movies you shake your head at. Yeah, maybe the premise was kind of, sort of, cool, but -- no, I just can't. LAKE PLACID 2 was completely unnecessary. Now how many times have I said that? Trailer:
