Quentin Tarantino Teases Trilogy, 'Killer Crow'

Image
In a recent interview, director Quentin Tarantino discusses what's in store for moviegoers after Django Unchained .  In the interview, Tarantino dishes about his ideas for a third revisionist history movie, along the lines of Basterds and Django  -- this one, under the working title Killer Crow , would tell the story of a group of black soldiers in World War II as they journey through Europe to Switzerland, leaving a bloody trail of revenge, justice and a helluva fun ride for the audience. Henry Louis Gates Jr.: You've targeted Nazis in Inglourious Basterds and slave owners in Django Unchained . What's next on the list of oppressors to off? Quentin Tarantino: I don't know exactly when I'm going to do it, but there's something about this that would suggest a trilogy. My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this [would be] a huge story that included the [smaller] story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of bla

The first 6 minutes of the Maniac remake starring Elijah Wood has been released. Synopsis: The owner of a mannequin shop develops a dangerous obsession with a young artist.

A 'Star Trek' Fan's Dying Wish

Image
This story completely reminds me of the cult movie Fan Boys , where a boy's dying wish is to see a workprint of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace .  But this isn't a movie, it's real life -- and it seems that this may end up with a similar ending, as it has been rumored that director J.J. Abrams is working hard to get a rough cut of Star Trek: Into Darkness to the dying fan. Here's the original story published on Reddit: Hello Reddit. I've seen some amazingly kind and generous stuff happen on here. I'm hoping there's room for another amazing act of generosity and kindness for a friend of mine who is really sick. I couldn't begin to put into words what he has gone through. Luckily his wife did it for me... "My amazing healthy film buff husband diagnosed with leukemia (CML) at 38 had to endure 3 rounds of chemo before they found a bone marrow donor match had a Bone Marrow Transplant, which was MORE chemo, full body radiation & lots of

J.J. Abrams Turns Down 'Star Wars Episode VII' Directing Job

Image
Director J.J. Abrams, fresh off his Star Trek: Into Darkness gig, has revealed that he turned down the directing job for Star Wars Episode VII .  It's all good, though -- we wouldn't want any cross contamination between the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises now, would we? Suggesting Lucasfilm are chasing some big guns for the job, J.J Abrams has revealed he’s turned down the "Star Wars Episode 7" directing job. The 'Star Trek' director tells Empire, "There were the very early conversations, and I quickly said that, because of my loyalty to Star Trek and also just being a fan, I wouldn't even want to be involved in the next version of those things. I declined any involvement very early on. I'd rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them." Betters say there's good odds on "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughan directing the new "Star Wars" film.

Gunnar Hansen's 'Texas Chainsaw 3D' Role Revealed In New Photo

Image
The original Leatherface, Gunnar Hansen, has a role in the new direct sequel to the 1974 film, Texas Chainsaw 3D .  That's old news.  What is new news is this picture of Hansen's character, who appears to be a member of the murderous Sawyer family (but who knows, that could not be the case). Whatever the case may be, it's good to see Mr. Hansen in front of the camera again -- especially for a TCM movie! Texas Chainsaw 3D hits theaters January 4, 2013 .

Paul Giamatti Talks 'Bubba Nosferatu' Status

Image
Paul Giamatti The proposed prequel/sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep has been gestating for a few years now.  The original film, directed by Don Coscarelli, told the story of an aging (and alive) Elvis (played by cult icon Bruce Campbell) living in a nursing home and battling evil forces with a black JFK. Now the prequel, currently titled Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires , is said to tell the story of a younger Elvis filming a movie in Louisiana when he comes afoul a coven of she-vampires. In a recent interview, actor Paul Giamatti (who is attached to co-star) updated everyone on the status of the film. What’s going on with the Bubba Ho-Tep sequel, Bubba Nosferatu ? GIAMATTI: When I first met Don, it was just through funny circumstances. We got together and he told me he had the idea for a sequel to that, and I read the script, which was great. I don’t know how much I would want to give away about it, though. The part I would play would be Colonel Parker, who was Elvis’

Marlon Wayans Reacts To 'Scary Movie 5' On Twitter

Image
Although Marlon Wayans has nothing to do with Scary Movie 5  (he hasn't been involved with the franchise since the second film), he's getting loads of negative feedback for the film via his Twitter account from fans, most of whom who are just comparing the two trailers for Wayans' next, A Haunted House (another horror spoof) and Scary Movie 5 . Here's the first tweet that caught our attention: RT @PrinceAmirVI: @MARLONLWAYANS just saw the Scary Movie 5 trailer...they need you...bad ... *** HA!!! I wish it ❤. Go see a haunted house Not too harsh, he wishes the film love, but still plugs his film. And then came this one: RT @princeofny: So scary movie 5 just gonna steal the same story form @MARLONLWAYANS A Haunted House sheesh #TimesMustBeHard *** preach!  Now this response was a little more cynical. And: RT @RKavalli: Scary movie 5 just looks whack. Everytime the wayans leave something, i dont wanna watch it anymore. @MARLONLWAYANS - ha! Again, not

Tom Hardy In 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Photo Goes Viral

Image
The first confirmed photo of Tom Hardy in the title role of Mad Max: Fury Road has gone online.  If you're finally coming to terms with the fact that Mel Gibson will not be playing Max this time around, then you have to admit Hardy looks pretty badass right here.  And since this is technically a sequel, does this mean the Mad Max character will be handed down like James Bond?  Let's hope not. Official 'Scary Movie 5' Trailer Is Here

Image
The trailer for Scary Movie 5  has been released.  Judging from the scenes shown, my preemptive thoughts on this fifth installment seems to be better than Scary Movie 3 and 4 -- and putting the series back on par with the first two. Although the lack of Anna Faris will be felt by this moviegoer, Ashley Tisdale is a pretty good visual replacement; not too sure about her comedic side, though.  And on a side note: the final clip with Charlie Sheen meeting the door looks hilarious -- everyone loves a good crotch-shot.

'Anchorman 2' Gets A Release Date

Image
The highly anticipated sequel to Anchorman , starring Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, San Diego's most famous news anchor, has been slated for release on December 20, 2013 . So, yeah, we have another year to wait -- hopefully it'll be worth the wait.  Returning cast members along with Ferrell are Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, Steve Carrell and David Koechner.  Adam McKay is also returning to direct.

Review: 'Silent Night' (2012)

Image
Finally got around to checking out the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, Silent Night  -- which is a very loose remake at that, I might add.  Now in reviewing this film, like most remakes I watch, I will judge this film as if it is an original film and leave the 1984 film out of the equation. Let's get things started by diving in precisely where the film picks up: an unknown assailant is preparing himself for the day -- shaving, getting dressed, putting on a slightly modified Santa Claus costume...you know, the usual.  And then we immediately get into the nitty gritty with an over-the-top opening kill that really  serves no purpose nor sets any kind of tone that the film would follow. Our main protagonist is Deputy Bradimore, played by the beautiful Jaime King, accompanied by yet another hero/asshole character by Malcolm McDowell.  On a side note: though Malcolm's character description is very similar to that of his Loomis character in Rob Zombie's Halloween  and

'Star Wars: Episode VII' Director To Be Announced Next Month

Image
It's common knowledge (and a no-brainer) by now that Star Wars: Episode VII (7) is on the horizon and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told ABC News Radio that an update will be coming in January -- most likely the announcement of a director. Ever since Disney announced plans for Star Wars Episode 7, fans have been starved for new information. Pretty much the only thing in the way of official news has been an announcement that Michael Arndt will write the screenplay. There has been rampant speculation about who the director is, but no official announcement. And it looks like the director announcement probably won’t be coming this month. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy told ABC News Radio, "I have no immediate update, but hopefully in January I'll have something that I can say." We're hoping that something is a director announcement. Source: ComicBook.com

Shawn Levy Back To Produce 'Night At The Museum 3', But Won't Direct

Shawn Levy is returning to produce the third Night at the Museum flick but will not be directing the film. Those that Levy will produce include Night at the Museum 3; Brother From Another Mother, to be directed and written by John Hamburg; Sesame Street; Fancy Nancy, which 21 Laps is producing with Tina Fey; Alone for the Holidays, written by Seth Meyers (Anne Fletcher is attached to direct); and Kodachrome. 'Transformers 4' Has Its New Leads

Image
Nicola Peltz The new lead roles have been cast for Transformers 4 .  Enter Brenton Thwaites and Nicola Peltz.  The two will star alongside Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay produced sequel. After breaking word that Mark Wahlberg would take the lead in Michael Bay's upcoming Transformers 4, Twitch has learned that after a lengthy screen testing process Brenton Thwaites and Nicola Peltz will be rounding out the principal cast alongside Wahlberg. The American born Peltz - best known for her role as Katara in The Last Airbender and soon to be seen in Bates Motel - will play Wahlberg's daughter in the film while the Australian Thwaites - soon to be seen opposite Angelina Jolie in Maleficent - will play Peltz's biker boyfriend. 'Alice In Wonderland 2' Gearing Up At Disney

Image
Plans are in full motion over at Disney for a sequel to 2010's Alice in Wonderland , directed by Tim Burton.  In fact, a writer has already been chosen. Disney wants Alice to return to Wonderland. Mouse House stalwart Linda Woolverton is penning a sequel to Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," the 2010 hit that starred Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. The 3D film went on to earn $1 billion worldwide and scored Oscars for art direction and costume design. Woolverton has a long history with Disney, having previously written the studio's "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey," and "Maleficent," and contributed to toons "Mulan" and "Aladdin." Sequel's plot details are under wraps, but first film was inspired by Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and its sequel "Through the Looking-Glass,"

'Jumanji' Remake To Be Written By Zach Helm

Image
Screenwriter Zach Helm ( Stranger than Fiction ) has been tapped to pen the remake of Jumanji .  If you've been living under a rock, then you probably don't know that Jumanji was a gigantically successful 1995 film starring Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst. Zach Helm, who garnered acclaim for penning Stranger Than Fiction, has been tapped to write Columbia’s reimagining of Jumanji. Matt Tolmach is the producing the project, which is a new adaptation of the Chris Van Allsburg book. The tome, first published in 1981, was previously a 1995 movie directed by Joe Johnston that starred Robin Wiliams and Kirsten Dunst. The movie, blending light comedy and family adventure, told of a board game come to life as two kids discover the supernatural game and release a man trapped in there decades earlier. They also unleash jungle forces and must team up with the man to quell the game’s powerful magic. The 2005 Jon Favreau-directed film Zathura was a sequel of sorts. Word o

'Tron 3' Officially Has A Writer

Image
Disney is in talks (which are pretty much finalized) to have screenwriter Jesse Wigutow to come on board and script the latest draft of Tron 3 . A new Tron is back in development at Disney. The sequel to the 2010 reboot Tron: Legacy — called Tron 3 in some quarters — is moving a step forward with Disney in negotiations to hire Jesse Wigutow to pen the latest draft of the script. Joseph Kosinski, who directed Legacy, is attached to helm this installment, which is being developed with a renewed purpose under Alan Horn, who took the reigns of Disney Studios in June. Some considered the dark and trippy Legacy — which teamed newcomer Garrett Hedlund with Jeff Bridges, star of the 1982 original Tron — a lukewarm performer when it opened in December 2010. But the film grossed $400 million worldwide, good enough to spark interest in prolonging the franchise. With that foundation and a strong brand, Disney believes it can really go for broke with a new movie. Plot details are being

TV: Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel Will Return For 'Girl Meets World'

Image
Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have officially signed on for the sequel series Girl Meets World , in which they will be reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga from the hit '90s sitcom Boy Meets World. Cory and Topanga are officially back. Original Boy Meets World co-stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have been tapped to reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence in Disney Channel's Boy Meets World follow-up, Girl Meets World, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. As first reported by TV Line, the duo will step back into the roles they made famous in the ABC TGIF series that ran from 1993-2000. In the Disney Channel project -- currently in the pilot stage -- Savage and Fishel's Cory and Topanga are a happily married couple and parents to 13-year-old daughter named Riley, from whose point of view the story is told. Boy Meets World creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs is on board to shepherd the follow-up, with a nationwide casting searc

'Machete' Producers Sue Over Sequel 'Machete Kills'

Image
Overnight Productions is looking to cut ties with Robert Rodriguez.  If the suit is successful, we won't be seeing Machete Kills anytime soon. Overnight Productions today said it wants to cut ties with Robert Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions over the rights to Machete Kills. If successful, the court action could stop the release of the film – which Open Road acquired for distribution from Quick Draw last month. The complaint filed Tuesday (read it here), the producers of 2010’s Machete are seeking to terminate the April 2012 agreement in which they granted director/producer Rodriguez the rights to make another action movie about the rogue Mexican Federale. The rights would revert back to Rick Schwartz’s Overnight. The plaintiffs are seeking $2 million in damages. Overnight claims that earlier this month they were not provided with Texas tax credit information as required under the agreement with Rodriguez’s company. And then there is the matter of Schwartz’s fee. “Defendant

Evan Rachel Wood Cast In '10 Things I Hate About Life'

Image
Evan Rachel Wood ( Across the Universe , The Wrestler ) has been cast in 10 Things I Hate About Life , the quasi-sequel-spinoff to 10 Things I Hate About You (although this new movie has absolutely nothing to do with the original flick). The film is currently in pre-production and will be directed by Gil Junger, who also directed the first movie.  Expect the film to hit sometime in 2014.

Don Mancini Talks 'Curse Of Chucky'

Image
Child's Play creator Don Mancini sat down with Yahoo!'s Yo-Show and talked about the upcoming direct-to-video sequel Curse of Chucky , the sixth installment in the Child's Play franchise which said to disregard the events of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky  and possibly being a direct sequel to either part 3 or 2. Either way, Mancini had some interesting tidbits that he dropped in the interview.  Check it out below.   Curse of Chucky should be hitting stores and online retailers around Halloween 2013.

'Silent Night' Trailer Released, Surprisingly Awesome

Image
I was never a huge fan of the original Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise, but the trailer for the remake Silent Night actually has me pretty excited, even if it does incorporate just about every slasher gag from just about every slasher movie (see the flying ax).  Also going to add that the killer looks insanely badass. Check out the trailer below...

Jamie Foxx To Play Electro In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Image
This is interesting.  According to Variety, Jamie Foxx is in serious talks to play the villain Electro in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 .  And I think it's safe to assume that it was Electro in the post-credit scene of The Amazing Spider-Man . Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" seems to be coming together faster than expected, as sources tell Variety the studio is in early talks with Jamie Foxx to play the villain in the movie. Sources also told Variety that Foxx would play Electro, and Foxx later tweeted, "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well." Electro is the alter ego of Max Dillon, an enemy of Spider-Man who gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #9" in February 1964. In "The Amazing Spider-Man's" post-credit sequence, set inside Dr. Curt Connors' cell at an

'A Christmas Story 2' Now Available On DVD, Blu-Ray

Image
The new sequel to 1983's A Christmas Story is here.  One thing bothers me, though -- why is this being advertised as the "official sequel"?  If memory serves, there was a sequel in 1994 titled It Runs in the Family (aka My Summer Story ).  Perhaps this is an attempt to negate the '94 flick.  Oh well.  I'm just happy to see Daniel Stern still working. Check out the trailer below... BUY 'A CHRISTMAS STORY 2' ON AMAZON!

TV: 'Boy Meets World' Gets Sequel Series, 'Girl Meets World'

Image
As far as TV sequel series are concerned, I really couldn't care less.  But this one intrigues me.  Maybe because Boy Meets World is one of my all-time favorite TV shows.  But let's face it: a lot of TV sequel series never live up to the original (see Saved by the Bell: The New Class ). But, yet, here we are and Disney is in the early stages of developing Girl Meets World , a sequel series all about Cory and Topanga's daughter.  And yes, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are in talks to reprise their roles. The world has met Cory Matthews — is it time now to meet his daughter? The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girl Meets World, TVLine has learned exclusively. Sources say that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to revisit their roles of sweethearts Cory and Topanga, who married before their ABC sitcom ended its seven-season run. The new series would ce

Final Poster For 'Texas Chainsaw 3D' Released

Image
The final one sheet for Texas Chainsaw 3D , the direct sequel to the 1974 original, has been released.  Not too sure how I feel about this one.  It's pretty to-the-point, so I guess I can live with that. 'Texas Chainsaw 3D' continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family -- or so they thought. Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Hea

'Fright Night 2' Is Going Straight To DVD

Image
Much like the original, the Fright Night remake is getting a sequel -- sort of.  A direct-to-video sequel of the remake is on the way, only this one will not star Colin Farrell or Anton Yelchin and will be a standalone movie. When the original Fright Night hit in 1985, fans of the Tom Holland film would not see a sequel until three years later in '88 when Fright Night Part II opened, reuniting its main cast members Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale. Now, it appears the 2011 Fright Night remake is spawning a sequel of its own, Fright Night 2, however, don't expect Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin to make a return. ShockTillYouDrop.com pursued rumors that hit over the weekend that a follow-up was in the works and learned that Eduardo Rodriguez (Curandero, Fear Itself, Stash House) is in line to direct. The direct-to-DVD sequel will be a stand-alone story and begin shooting in Romania soon. Fright Night told of a young man who learns a vampire has moved in next door. T

'Carrie' Teaser Poster Is Finally Here

Image
The teaser poster for the Carrie remake has finally hit the net.  It's actually very similar to the fan made one posted a few months ago (coincidence, or laziness by the studio?).  Looks for the trailer soon. The film hits theaters March 15, 2013.

Original 'Jurassic Park 4' Concept Art Revealed

Image
Concept art for one of the original ideas for Jurassic Park 4  has it the Internet thanks to  Badass Digest .  Keep in mind, this idea, which involved gun-toting dinos, has been scrapped for a new (classic) idea. SEE ALL THE PHOTOS HERE! Years ago John Sayles wrote a script for Jurassic Park IV that featured genetically engineered human-dinosaur hybrids that were super smart gun-toting mercenaries. It was, to put it mildly, a brazen and bonkers idea for a sequel to the franchise, and the script was eventually reviewed on Ain't It Cool and the project shitcanned after the internet crapped its shorts in horror. How far did the project get? Not that far, but far enough to warrant concept art, some of which was created by artist Carlos Huante. You can see those images here, and they're not what I was expecting. I had in mind something more pulpy, real dinosaurs but with human eyes and anthropomorphized expressions. Instead what Huante came up with was essentially the

No Robots, No Explosions Here: A Look Inside Michael Bay's Home(s)

Image
The homes of people who are incredibly talented are always fascinating to the general public, as the places they live and see on a daily basis often reflect who they are and what inspires them. There have even been a number of successful television shows over the years that follow celebrities inside their classy (or ridiculous) cribs to see how they live, in both luxury and style. For director Michael Bay , the highest paid filmmaker in the world, his swank home(s) show off his astute sense of style and d├ęcor. All of these things are reflected in his films as well, so it makes sense that these traits would follow him home. Up until recently, Michael Bay owned a home in the beautiful Santa Barbara area, just north of the metropolis of Los Angeles and the gorgeous gateway to the Central Coast (California), considered one of the most beautiful areas in the world. The home Bay lived in was an architectural marvel, with two floors and many decks inside and outside the home. There is

'The Mummy' Reboot To Be Directed By Len Wiseman

The latest reboot coming from Universal will be of The Mummy -- and it will be directed by Len Wiseman. EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures is setting Len Wiseman to direct The Mummy, the reboot of a franchise whose most recent incarnation grossed $1.25 billion over three films. Jon Spaihts is writing the script and the studio is eyeing a potential summer 2014 release, so things are moving quickly, with Universal eager to ramp back up one of its most venerable franchises. Dimension Doesn't Want Williamson's 'Scream 5'?

Image
Now this is just crazy.  Several months ago the brothers Weinstein were actively seeking new writer(s) for a potential Scream 5  because series creator Kevin Williamson had no interest in returning to the franchise after their messy divorce during the production of Scream 4 . Now, it seems things have changed.  Judging by a Tweet from Williamson himself, it appears that perhaps the scribe has written a draft for Scream 5  and is very much interested in returning (amazing what a few months away can do).  But -- do the Weinsteins want Kevin's script?  The answer appears to be no.  And that's a damn shame. Thanks to our good pal Mr. Klyza over at  Scream-Trilogy.net  for pointing this out to all of us.  I don't care if Kevin wants to send Ghostface to space, if Kev writes it, I'll watch it!

'The Collection' Trailer Is Finally Here, Worth The Wait

Image
The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to The Collector , The Collection , is finally here -- and wow.  I remember back in the day when there wasn't a chance in hell that a sequel could ever live up or surpass the original.  But nowadays it's a different story.  I wouldn't call it the norm, but this sequel definitely looks to deliver the goods. Arkin escapes with his life from the vicious grips of "The Collector" during an entrapment party where he adds beautiful Elena to his "Collection." Instead of recovering from the trauma, Arkin is suddenly abducted from the hospital by mercenaries hired by Elena's wealthy father. Arkin is blackmailed to team up with the mercenaries and track down The Collector's booby trapped warehouse and save Elena.

First 'RoboCop' Image Shows New Suit

Image
The first, although candid, image from Sony and MGM's RoboCop re-do has hit the Internet.  The suit looks very much like a hybrid of Iron Man and Batman.  But it works, I suppose.  What do you think? The film hits cinemas August 9, 2013. In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

'Texas Chainsaw 3D' Teaser Trailer Debuts

Image
Well, I was late posting the teaser poster for Texas Chainsaw 3D , but we won't be tardy with this one -- the official teaser trailer for the film has hit the net.  Check it out below.  This new film, a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's 1974 cult classic, tells the story of a young woman who inherits an old Victorian house in the backwoods of Texas from her grandmother.  Upon arriving at the location she seen discovers that she is related to the twisted Sawyer family. Judging from the trailer, the film looks to try to get back to the roots of the original '74 flick.  In fact, it's almost as if this is the true remake we've wanted, just in a more subtle sequel/reboot sort of way (which is what Halloween: H20 should have been).  But, at the end of the day, I'm super stoked and a bit giddy to check out this latest Massacre .
