Chase and D’Angelo are in early talks to join Ed Helms and Christina Applegate in the comedy with “Horrible Bosses” scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein on board to helm from a script they penned. 'Scream 5' A Possible Next Project, Says Wes Craven

In an interview with AMFM Magazine at the SXSW film festival, director Wes Craven spoke to the mag about YEAH, a new platform that basically expands a director's commentary into a visual feature.  But was was even more interesting is what came out of Craven's mouth when asked what his next project was going to be. Of course he touched on the comic he is involved with, but the legendary director also stated that it could possibly be Scream 5 .  Wait, what?!  Could the Weinsteins finally be moving forward with the fifth entry?  Not so fast.  Craven has been adament via Twitter that a fifth Scream  is nothing but a fan's wish at the moment -- but his recent comment does bring some interesting theories to the, is Dimension kickstarting this damn thing already? 'Ninja Turtles' Filming At A Ski Resort In New York

At least it is being filmed in New York, right?  Albeit, New York City would be ideal -- but a ski resort in Tupper Lake, NY?  Apparently, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action reboot, from Michael Bay, will be partly filmed at a ski resort -- really? This sounds ludicrous, if you ask me.  Not saying it's a false rumor...just isn't "right". The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports that the filmmakers producing next year's "Ninja Turtles" movie will find out when they film some scenes at the closed Big Tupper Ski Area in Tupper Lake. Paramount Pictures is remaking the popular 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It is tentatively scheduled for release in 2014. Village Mayor Paul Maroun says the movie company needed a closed ski resort and Big Tupper fit the bill. The ski mountain in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains has been closed because of financial problems. Up to 80 people are expected to work on the shoot, which begins next wee

Sit back and let’s take a walk through vehicle heaven… The Original It all started back in 2001 with "The Fast and the Furious." Criminal and vehicular hijacks ensue. In the end, Billy gets the girl— Toretto’s sister—and Toretto flees the area in his 1970 Dodge charger. Yes…this movie series is just as heavy on the cars as it is on the action. These less-than-legal hot rods aren't the reliable kind you'd desire to find at a Phoenix used car dealership. They are ris

Christina Applegate Cast In 'Vacation' Sequel/Reboot

Christina Applegate has been cast as Mrs. Rusty Griswold in the Vacation sequel/reboot coming from New Line.  Applegate joins Ed Helms who is taking on the role of Rusty, the son of Clark and Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo).  It is unclear on whether or not Chase and D'Angelo will make cameo appearances, but I think it's safe to say they will. Christina Applegate is in final negotiations to star opposite Ed Helms in Vacation, New Line’s update of the classic comedy movie series. Vacation  is being written and directed by the duo of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Source: The Hollywood Reporter

James Cameron Currently Writing 'Avatar' Sequels

Iconic director James Cameron is currently hidden away on a ranch in New Zealand pounding out the screenplays for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 .  Here's the latest from Cameron regarding the sequels: Q: Can you give us some scoop about your upcoming little film called "Avatar 2"? Cameron: "Oh believe me, it's not that little! It's not exactly a little, intimate drama. I'm working on 'Avatar 2' and 'Avatar 3.' I was talking the other day with Peter Jackson and said, 'You had it easy dude. You had the books when you did the second and third 'Lord of the Rings.' I have to create my own books in my head and extract a script from it. I'm deep into it and I'm living in Pandora right now. There is that start up torque where you feel it's coming to you. Then you build up momentum. That's when it gets fun. The characters talk and it's writing itself. I'm almost there right now. It's building fast." So

A few character posters for Kick-Ass 2 have been released.  The posters feature the film's main heroes and baddies: Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl, The Mother Fucker, Black Death, Mother Russia and Night-Bitch.  The only major character that seems to be absent is Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars, which is expected to be a surprise I guess.  Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters August 2013.

'Jurassic Park 4' Has Its Director In Colin Trevorrow

And the director of Jurassic Park 4  is Colin Trevorrow -- who directed the wonderful Safety Not Guaranteed .  Recently, there was some speculation that Steven Spielberg may hop into the director's chair once more, but obviously that has been debunked now.  Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park films will be an executive producer on the fourth.  Joe Johnston directed Jurassic Park III . Colin Trevorrow, who made his feature directorial debut on the no-budget Sundance pic Safety Not Guaranteed, is about to make a Tyrannosaurus rex-sized leap in scale for his next film. He has been set by Universal Pictures to helm Jurassic Park 4, the third sequel to the dinosaur franchise hatched from Michael Crichton’s novel. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have written the script. Frank Marshall is producing with Patrick Crowley, and Steven Spielberg is executive producer. It will be shot in 3D and get released June 13, 2014. This is Spielber

'Transformers 4' May Include Josh Duhamel Cameo

Original Transformers  trilogy alumn Josh Duhamel has been contacted about making an appearance in the upcoming Transformers 4 .  I believe to be mainly to connect the new films to the old, while also spinning into a new series. “[Michael] said he wants to put me in it someplace”, the Safe Haven actor tells THR. “I don’t know if he was just saying that because he had me on the phone and he felt obligated or what, but, you know what? I got to do three of those. It changed my career, it changed my life getting to be a part of something that big, so I’m grateful for even doing the first three of them.”

Sam Mendes Not Returning To Direct 'Bond 24'

Sam Mendes directed the latest James Bond film "Skyfall" to critical acclaim and fanfare (and it also became the highest grossing Bond film earning more than $1.1 billion) and it was only natural to believe he would be back to direct the next one but unfortunately, his schedule is just too hectic as he has other commitments to focus on.  He says in an interview with Empire:  "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara's very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie... Directing "Skyfall" was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" and "King Lear", that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond... I feel very honored to have been part of the Bond family, and very much hope I have a chance to work with them again sometime in the future..." The door is left open fo

Peter Laird NOT A Fan Of Megan Fox Being Cast As April O'Neil

Peter Laird, the co-creator of TMNT is not a fan of Megan Fox being cast as April O'Neil in Michael Bay's reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. From Laird's personal blog he says: "My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two Transformers movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) Jennifer's Body. It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O'Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that's what they want. Who knows? I can't get myself too worked up about it." Megan Fox's name definitely has value and her acting skills are also in question but regardless of how we feel about this reboot, it's going to happen whether we like it or not.  If this reboot doesn't fare well with audiences (and knowing how much hate this reboot has alr

'Hunger Games' Prequel & Other Books We'd Like To Read

The beginning of the calendar always feels a little sluggish to me - at least as far as entertainment is concerned. Sure, January is the official month of self-promotion and falsely gracious concession speeches (also known as awards show season) but there's rarely any good, fresh movies hitting theaters this time of year. Right now, it seems like all everyone is talking about is "Catching Fire," the second film in the wildly popular "Hunger Games" franchise. The movie, however, won't hit theaters until November 22, so as of press time, all fans have is the book (which all of the serious fans have already read) and some still photos from the set. So, we must content ourselves to re-watch older films, catch up on television, download games and otherwise bide our time until summer blockbusters give us something to cheer about again. In the meantime, there are some books I'd love to read, if only they existed: A Panem Prequel Who else wants to know m

Harrison Ford Joins 'Anchorman 2' As Legendary Newscaster

Harrison Ford has joined the ever-growing ensemble of Anchorman: The Legend Continues .  This cast just keeps growing and growing -- and that's not a bad thing! Ford will play a legendary newscaster a la Tom Brokaw in the Adam McKay-helmed comedy, which begins shooting this month in Atlanta. Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Nolan, Snyder, Goyer Doing 'Justice League'!

Finally, some solid news for Justice League  has arrived.  The film will most likely be directed by Man of Steel 's Zack Snyder from a story by Dark Knight trilogy's Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer!  This also pretty much guarantees that Christian Bale would be back as Batman as well as having Henry Cavill donning the red cape of Superman again. Source: Latino Review

Spielberg To Adapt Kubrick's 'Napoleon' For TV Mini-Series

Though Stanley Kubrick wrote a screenplay for Napoleon back in 1961, it may finally see the light of day in a Steven Spielberg-produced TV mini-series. It was a screenplay first written by Stanley Kubrick back in 1961 and now Steven Spielberg says he’s working with the late filmmaker’s estate on the project. “I’ve been developing Stanley Kubrick’s screenplay, for a miniseries not for a motion picture, about the life of Napoleon,” Spielberg recently told the French TV network Canal+. Kubrick left behind extensive research archives - location photos, notes and boxes of other details which provided a book on the subject. But studios balked at the expensive project. (Kubrick eventually made Barry Lyndon which takes place 15 years before the Napoleonic wars.) Spielberg’s 2001 A.I. began as a Kubrick project. The Napoleon news comes after Spielberg delayed Robopocalypse. Recently named jury president for the Cannes Film Festival in May, he’s producing Jurassic Park IV in 3D for June 201

President Obama Crosses 'Star Trek' And 'Star Wars'

This is how you know it's a slow news day -- when we're posting about President Obama mistaking Star Trek and Star Wars . Still funny if you're a Trekkie or a Warsie... Fanboys may want to pull President Obama’s film geek credentials. He appeared Friday in the White House briefing room talking about budget cuts and said he wouldn’t do a “Jedi mind-meld” with the top two Congressional Republicans. Of course, the correct term is “Vulcan mind-meld”. Tweeted a Jedi fanboy group: “We forgive President Obama for the #JediMindMeld mistake. After all, with JJ Abrams now with a foot in both camps, being a geek is tough.” Source: Deadline

'Sinister 2' Gets The Green Light

Blumhouse Productions has given Sinister 2  the go-ahead.  This is great news, as the first film was a major success and in my opinion capitalized on the "found footage/evil presence" theme the best (of the new-age horror flicks).  The cast and story of Sinister 2  is being kept under tight wraps.  I would imagine the budget could be slightly bigger than the first ($3M) -- but will we get a better product?  I don't know, Sinister  was a pretty good flick, having grossed more than $87M. We'll keep you updated on everything Sinister 2  as production on the sequel evolves. Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse Productions is moving forward on its third micro-budget franchise with Sinister 2, the sequel to last year’s horror pic that grossed more than $87M worldwide off of a $3M budget. The move to build the Sinister franchise follows in the footsteps of Blumhouse’s successes with the Paranormal Activity and Insidious series of ultra-low-budget genre hits. Source: Deadline

Meagan Good Joins 'Anchorman 2' Cast, Burgundy's Boss

Meagan Good has joined the cast of Anchorman: The Legend Continues , where she'll play Ron Burgundy's boss. With filming set to begin soon in Atlanta, Paramount’s Anchorman: The Legend Continues is still quietly adding thesps to its growing roster. Deception‘s Meagan Good is the latest to join Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, David Koechner, and new cast members Kristen Wiig and James Marsden in the comedy sequel. We hear the NBC primetime star is set to play Ron Burgundy’s boss in the pic, which hits theaters December 20. Good graced the big screen last year in the box office hit Think Like A Man and is repped by Gersh and Untitled. Source: Deadline

Here We Go, Sam Raimi Plans To Write 'Evil Dead 4' This Summer

Sam Raimi is in London -- and at a recent Meet the Filmmakers event for Oz: The Great and Powerful  he was asked the inevitable Evil Dead questions.  Most interestingly, Raimi did confirm that he does want to make an Evil Dead 4 , despite the remake coming this April. I would love to make Evil Dead 4. My brother and I plan to work on the script this summer. "I would love to make Evil Dead 4. My brother and I plan to work on the script this summer" Sam Raimi.
